Ja, jeg kan også varmt anbefale Atmel AVR-serien. Det er en stor
fordel, at der er AVR-understøttelse i standard binutils og gcc.

Under Gentoo giver følgende kommandoer dig en fuldt virkende toolchain
til Atmel's AVR-serie:

$ emerge crossdev
$ crossdev -v -t avr

Jeg kan anbefale avrdude til programmering af selve IC'en.
