Hvad bruger du som salt?

Hvis du bare bruger to tegn, så vil crypt(3) bare bruge DES til at
hashe kodeordet. Hvis du som salt bruger '$1$<8 tegn>$' vil crypt(3)
bruge en hash baseret på MD5 som er meget længere.
