Jeg er ikke hundrede procent sikker på hvad volume rendering betyder, men hvis
det betyder at du f.eks. har en eller anden formel og skal have renderet et 3d
objekt ud fra den, så lyder det som om Paul Burkes "poygonisering af et
skalart felt" algortime (marching cubes) kan klare det.

Jeg har selv brugt det til at lave den klassiske metaball demoeffekt, og det
var ikke specielt kompliceret, men jeg kan forestille mig at vektor
matematikken måske når en sværhedsgrad på over middel hvis man skal lave en
algoritme der helt generelt kan polygonisere og udregne normaler ud fra mere
avancerede funktioner end en kugle.
